VPN Information
Virtual private network
Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used to connect remote computers to a secure private network. General description of VPN is in the article VPN for beginners: principle of operation, advantages and disadvantages or at Wikipedia.
School VPN (https://vpn.vse.cz) is designed for secure access to school information systems. When connected to a VPN, the computer gets the school IP address and looks to other servers in the school network as if it were part of the school network.
We do not provide universal VPN – there is no access to external services from the school VPN. If you connect from home to a school VPN, then traffic to the List, for example, will go directly from the home IP address and not through school VPN. School VPN cannot be used to circumvent geoblocation (eg to watch Czech Television while on holiday abroad), to circumvent local censorship (China and many other countries), or to secure unknown / unsecured WiFi.

Services available via school VPN
Logged users are divided into four groups:
- students and external roles – similar to computers in classrooms. Possibility of logging into Active Directory, VMware Horizon (virtual desktop), managing web sites on the web host,
- employees – similar to a computer in the office. In addition to the previous group, they have access to employee-only systems (e.g. travel order management).
- server and network administrators – moreover, they have access to administration of servers and network elements.
- special causas – e.g. external suppliers of some information systems. Rights are solved individually.
If you log in the school VPN, external information sources may not be available.
